The Sgt Vincenzo B. DiPippo, USMC (Retired) Scholarship
Requirements for this scholarship are:
- A desire to serve in the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Air Force, or U.S. Space Force as enlisted or officer (this also includes all service academies).
- Write a 500-word essay on "Why I want to serve in our nation's armed forces."
- Recommendation from the Unit Commanding Officer and Unit Command Chief Petty Officer.
- Participate in a formal panel-style interview with our sponsors.
About Sgt Vincenzo B. DiPippo, USMC (Retired)
Sergeant Vincenzo B. DiPippo, USMC (Retired) served as an Aircraft Navigation Systems Technician in the United States Marine Corps from November 1953 to December 1956. He was stationed at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, North Carolina, and was a member of the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (2nd MAW), Marine Transport Squadron 153 (VMR-153), a Marine Corps logistical transport squadron. By the end of his service, he had earned a Rifle Marksman Qualification, the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.
Having served his country faithfully during the Korean Conflict and honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps, Sgt DiPippo went on to serve for 35 years in the United States Postal Service as a Letter Carrier, ending his career as a trainer and instructor to the next generation of postal employees.
Sgt DiPippo lived honestly and worked hard to provide for his family and children an example and future far better than he had himself, which was the tradition of men of his character. He enjoyed being an Amateur Softball Association umpire for decades and reveled in spirited debate.y. He represented the mettle of his generation, a generation that fought to build an America we continue to fight to preserve today.
This Scholarship is named after the Unit Commanding Officer's late grandfather who deeply believed in our nation and the future of it's youth.
