Spring 2023 Shadow Day Schedule
(We update this list frequently with the newest information)
Shadow Day runs from 8:30am to 3pm during drill days!
April 15, 2023
April 29, 2023
About Shadow Day:
Every Shadow Day is a "try before you buy" experience. Think of this day as a try-out for our unit. We are a team that strives for excellence and are looking for quality over quantity. Everyone in the Falcon Family is motivated, dedicated, and ready to lead. The day is just like any other drill day on our calendar. Everyone will run through the full rigors of being part of the unit. There is no separation between those who are doing a Shadow Day and our Cadets. We allow attendance of up to 4 shadow days before joining as a Cadet.
Please be aware, delaying enrollment is not advised! We have a lot to teach and train our new members in a VERY short period of time. Joining as soon as possible will allow your child to be prepared for success when it comes to our trainings!
What happens during Shadow Day:
Your child will arrive to where our office is on the second floor of our drill facility and gather with the rest of our Cadets. Your child will be assigned a Cadet who is experienced as a Mentor who will become their "battle-buddy" for the day. All new members of our units are called "prospective" or "Recruit" since they have yet to earn the title of being called a Cadet. Everything about our youth program is earned, even the simple things as a name! A typical day looks like the following:
8:30am: "All Hands Report Aboard" - Cadets and Recruits arrive to our drill facility
9am: "Quarters and Muster" – We gather in a military formation for attendance and receive announcements from our Commanding Officer
9:30am: Physical Fitness Evolution - The entire unit takes an hour to workout together!
10:30am to 12pm: Classroom Instruction - Topics vary to what the Cadets of our unit want to do. We typically focus on life skill competencies like: CPR/First Aid Training, Uniform Wear and Care, Leading Others, Security Detail, Marksmanship, Seamanship, Swim Techniques, and more!
12pm: "Chow" - Lunch
12:30pm to 2:30pm: Classroom Instruction
2:30pm: "Sweepers" - We all take part in cleaning our drill facility after using it for the day
2:45pm: "Final Formation" - We gather in a military formation for attendance and receive announcements from our Commanding Officer
3pm: Dismissal - Cadets and Recruits leave our drill facility

Preparing for Shadow Day:
We find that the more your child is prepared both physically and mentally for our environment, the better they will not only love our youth program but also fit in with the rest of our Cadets! We have attached a few PDF documents below for you to download/print out and give to your child to show them the kinds of things they can expect to learn within their few months of becoming a Cadet.
Please note, we do not expect your child to know these things on Shadow Day, nor within the first few drills with us. We also do not expect your child to be able to meet/exceed our Physical Fitness Standards on Shadow Day. We do however expect that they will know these things by heart and be able to pass the minimum to our Physical Fitness Standards before attending their first training!
We realize every child needs help to reach their full potential. Every member of our Falcon Family makes a significant time, energy, and mentorship commitment in each and every Cadet to prepare them as best we can for their future!
